Thanks to someone else for the heads up because I missed it. Unexpectedly WPLG have unveiled new open and music on Monday night and Tuesday night, with today relaunching across all newscasts.

update: no shockers, just a very very short open without a voice over, and new music. The rest of the graphics are the same.

ifb, i hope you’re right… it’s a horrible franchise. now, if they would just get rid of the “local 10″ branding — ANYTHING would be better.

In the 11pm tease Jennings just did, the graphic at the end had the swoosh with “problem solvers” in it.

I have to say their new theme music SU**S!!! I know they used The One and Only package for 13 years but come on!!! They are going the same route that their Post-Newsweek sisters WDIV in Detroit and WKMG Orlando are going by using repetative cheap sounding production music. Couldn’t they go with something better like Frank Gari’s “Eyewitness News” or “Image News” or something from Stephen Arnold or 615.

Whoops!! I forgot Image News is alreay being used by WB 39, but still WPLG needs to use a real theme package, heck even pay Gari to make them a new one that is diffrent from The One and Only.
