CBS 4 Newscasts on Comcast Video OnDemand

CBS 4’s newscasts are now on Comcast OnDemand in the South Florida area. I just found them browisng thru the menu a while ago. They’re kind of buried but it’s all there.

Miami Herald: NBC 6 shuffling anchors

The Miami Herald noted last week’s news of NBC 6’s decision to put Michael Williams with Jackie Nespral at the 11pm newscast.
An interesting thing to note is Tony Segreto’s contract which expires sometimes this year. I’ll trow a speculation here and say that taking Segreto out of the 11pm is probably a precursor to another move — not renewing his contract at all when it expires and letting him leave the station.

Controversial shock jock joins CNN Headline News

From the guy who said the people who were left in New Orleans during Hurricane Katrina were the “scumbags” comes a new show on CNN Headline News that will be “conversational, not confrontational”. The network has given Glen Beck a slot yet to be determined for a new one hour show. This is also the guy who said it took him one year to hate 9-11 families.

Am I the only one who thinks that CNN HN will be the network that will target Fox News with these oddballs to preserve whatever integrity CNN has left?

WTVJ drops Tony Segreto from 11pm newscast

Madness… got 10 emails in half an hour about this switch. So here’s the news:
NBC6 have allegedly made a decision to drop Tony Segreto from the 11pm newscast leaving him to anchor only the 6pm. Not a huge surprise but Michael Williams is the new weeknights anchor. Joel Connable takes weekend evenings.

This was a rumor has been going around for at least a couple days I think. And there seems to be a disagreenment whether it’s a done deal or something the suits at 6 are thinking about doing. But with all the hoopla and emails I thought I’d throw some oil in the fire and see what happens :)

Good move on NBC6’s part? If you are a viewer do you care? Some of the local newsies are probably very happy about this. There is/was some displeasure from having Segreto anchor NBC6 main newscast because he was a sports anchor before that and didn’t have much journo cred.

Update: the change is permanent. New promo with the weather guy and Michael Williams will be released soon probably just in time for the new graphics package.

10’s Laurie Jennings pregnant with twins

To answer all the “Is Jennings pregnant’ emails at once: yes she is indeed, with twins. Expecting in May
I think it was also mentioned during the newscasts on WPLG recently.

WTVJ – new graphics, new chief met soon!

An insider says WTVJ will debut new graphics (and music?) package on January 23rd. The graphics as expected will be the NBC O&O graphics that are in use at KNBC, WRC and other NBC owned stations.

Also on the 23rd WTVJ will introduce their new chief meteorologist. His name is Paul Deanno and he comes from KYW, the CBS affiliate in Philadelphia

Newscorp censoring MySpace. Creates user outrage

I wondered how long it would take for this to happen.
Users of MySpace are outraged after finding out the NewsCorp owned service has started censoring YouTube.com. Some users say the censorship spreads to other, sometimes unrelated, sites.

When MySpace users began raging and threatening to leave the service, access was restored but the forum in which they complained was closed.

Murdoch put some media shmuck to run his internet side of things, so I guess that would be a lesson on how you can’t pretend the other guys don’t exist and you’re the only game in town.

If this NewsCorp attitude keeps up I’ll venture into guessing two things might happen: the current MySpace users for the most part will move to another service or a clone of MySpace will appear (read another site with the same features).

Don’t mess with generation @ dude

Decade of Deco

Deco Drive is 10 years old.
They’ll have a special “Decade of Deco” on Monday at 7:30pm. My guess is it will highlight some of the bizzare things they’ve done on this show and it would probably be funny.
So anyone who likes the Deco tune it and check it out and then come back here and make fun of Lynn and Belkys’ hair dos :D Thanks for the tip Dave

1/09 Update: So what did everyone think? Was it as funny as you expected? I had an expectation to see lots of vintage goof offs from the early days of Deco untill recently. But I guess they wanted to keep the show with only Lynn and Louis moments. Although there were a couple of skits with Belkys in the mix. IMO there were some really hilarious moments between Belkys and Lynn and I was hoping those would get replayed

Religious gestapo gets a wedgy about David

Oh the whining that’s ensued about this latest NBC shtick. The religious freaks are all over this complaining the new NBC series The Book Of David, airing on some NBC affiliates on Friday, is a mockery of whatever The Book of David is about.

So as expected with anything they don’t like and disagree with, they turned their high-pitched whining on and some NBC stations got scared because 3 people called them and complained.

In the old times the Church burned books, and people just to make it more fun I guess (and how christian of them) when it disagreed with what’s being said. Today, in 2006, the religious militants censor TV stations and demand things not be aired because they disagree with what’s being said.

Completely forgetting about the “internets” and that thing called “torrents” which is near impossible to censor and where David and his books are gona show up about 30 minutes after they air. And where a lot of people who felt censored would go to see The Book of David, thus making the religious freaks’ whining tottaly useless and obsolete.

When I think about it, all of this censoring what I can and can’t see is starting look like my country pre-1989 when the commies wouldn’t let us watch this or that because they didn’t like it or they thought it was immoral. Or at least they thought we didn’t watch it.

Meanwhile a closet fag who’s also an anti-gay/gambling/lotto/bad morals Southern Baptist Convetion leader gets cought on Oklahoma City streets looking for a penis to play with.
