7’s sat center redo is over.

Anonymous emailer says 7’s satellite center makeover is completed and it will debut on Monday

NBC6 does 11pm web-only newscast

Due the Olympic games opening ceremony pre-empting the NBC6 news at 11pm, they will have a special web-only edition at NBc6.net from the 9th untill February 26th.

NBC6 site goes yellow for GM

NBC6 have their whole site, or the background of it, in yellow for GM’s “Live Green, Go Yellow” ad campaign promoting their flex-fuel platform.

Permanent adios to 7’s weather set

Anonymous tipster says 7’s weather set a.k.a. weather center is no more. Torn down completely and hauled out, just an empty void in it’s place that will probably be filled in by something else soon. Probably a standup area/weather set.

4 goes undercover, catches intimidating police officers

Bag this as another Emmy for 4, “Police Station Intimidation” in two parts. They sent someone to local police departments wired with cameras and mics wanting to get a form and file a complaint about a cop. First video, cops wants to know what happened, undercover 4 person refuses to say keeps asking for a form to fill out. The cops gets pissed off and starts asking for his name, address and ID. This is going to be huge.

Watch part 1 and 2

I have to wonder, is 4 in for some tough time with the cops after this aired. The day after the racial profiling test, Mike Kirsch and crew were surrounded by cops claiming someone complained Kirsch and the others were harassing them, except there was no one nearby that could have complained!

Those unmarked news vechicles will come in handy right about now.

10 doing webcasts – “Local10 News On Demand”

Looks like WPLG have gotten on the webcast wagon. They have a web-only newscast, hence the webcast moniker. Unlike WTVJ which have NewsNet but that airs on TV as well. The first edition was on February 3rd at 4pm.

It runs 4 minutes with a few headlines at first, then follows a tease of a 11p segment, then a quick weather look, then a longer tease about the 11p special report.

There will be 3 webcasts throughout the day — at 9am, noon, and 4pm. I have to say I won’t be surprised if that 4pm webcast gets expanded into longer than 4 minutes when WPLG drops their 5pm to 6pm newscast. At 4pm people are still at the office working and getting ready for the dreaded rush hour traffic, so being able to stream the 4pm traffic reports and such would be great.

It would be nice to see WPLG make this into a video podcast with RSS for people to subscribe to and download on their iPods or whatever and take it with them anywhere they wish.

sneak peak at the 7 sat center

Just a while ago they showed a very small part of the new stand up area while interviewing some cop dude next to it. It is very blue with a red, the 7 logo isn’t 3D. I’ll try to see if I can get a screen cap out of the video and post it
