Ratings for Monday

Some nice tipster sent the ratings for Monday 9/11.

Dr Phil was last in it’s time slot, even WTVJ beat him! Ouch

7News First at 4 fared better than I expected. Something else I didn’t expect to see is 7 beating Katie Couric and Brian Williams at 6:30!!!

Today: No More Local10 News at 5; 7News First at 4 is On

Today is the day WPLG’s great experiment - dropping the local news at 5pm and putting Dr. Phil on instead - is going live. I am almost positively sure the suits at 10 are crossing fingers and toes hoping Dr. Phil survives 3 newscasts.

7News on their part are taking a pretty big risk with their 5pm newscast as well, leaving it without a strong lead-in.

Starting a half-hour 4pm newscast followed by low-rated ‘Geraldo At Large’ neither of which has the Judge Judy lead-in pull means WFOR, with Oprah on at 4pm, has nothing to worry about. At least for the time being.

‘7News First At 4pm’ and ‘Geraldo’ will be going against ‘Oprah’ on WFOR, ‘Judge Judy’ on WPLG and  ‘Ellen’ on WTVJ!

Should make for an interesting November sweeps. I wonder if 10 will get attacked by the other stations for dropping the newscast!?

Boston Globe: WHDH Is Trying To get WLVI

The Boston Globe, citing an “executive involved in the deal”, says Sunbeam TV is in negotiations to buy WLVI Channel 56 in Boston. The station is owned by Tribune and is now the CW affiliate in the market.

7’s New Site

Some very very clever 7News viewer stumbled on the finished design of 7’s new website. And was just too nice to send it over so we can have a gawk at it!

click and see

I think the site looks sexy, they finally brought to the year 2006 even though I would have liked 7 to really set themselves apart and create something unlike what the other stations have without going outside of the station and without turning the site into a portal and try to be more than just news.

I hope they didn’t scrap live streaming of the newscasts!!!

What do you think?

UPN33 and WB39 Last Newscasts Tonight

Today is the last day UPN33 and WB39 have their newscasts with the old affiliations.

Starting tomorrow WB39 News at 10 will debut a new name, new graphics, and I think also new music.

I’ll try to get some video and screen shots when it happens

Engaged

Tipster sent a note to say that WTVJ reporter gal Patricia Andreu and University of Miami VP of Advancement Sergio Gonzalez are getting married soon.

They met last year at a UM campus lecture and hit it off from there

The future hubby proposed to Patricia while they were on vacation in South America in front of a glacier in Patagonia. The wedding happens sometime in January of 2007.

Congrats to both of them

Will They Move The Newsplex!?

First North Bay villagers wanted to turn the place into a park. Now a tipster says WIOD, which is right next to the WSVN building, is getting ready to remove its transition tower within the year. Once the tower is gone so will be the building and on its place the plan is to build a high-rise leaving many WSVN employees without parking.

The Ansin family, which owns a lot of undeveloped land in Miramar, have already began looking into moving the station there.

WTVJ’s main studios are also in Miramar
