Terrible Sound on WSVN Analog/Comcast

The sound on the analog WSVN channel 7 on Comcast, sounds terrible. Sounds a lot like a very compressed web video or even like it’s coming thru a phone.

WPLG intros web-only content

WPLG are smartening up and starting early on the web-exclusive content.

They have introduced a new feature exclusive to their web site called i-News. According to them it will feature videos and photos of all kinds of stories with local emphasis, and behind the scenes stuff.

WPLG has named Alex Alvarez to be the ”digital correspondent” and he will be creating and reporting the content.

Digital Simulcasting Appears to Be On

In the last few weeks I’ve noticed Comcast has been turning digital simlucasting for channels 2-79 on. First I noticed CNN, now MSNBC has been digitized as well.

On the local side My33 used to be unwatchable on my DVR now it’s clear and shiny as glass. WFOR, WTVJ and WPLG are also digitally simulcasted while WSVN is not yet.

The difference is quite noticeable, at least on my 21″ LCD the pictures are sharp with no artifacts and much better sound.

Something else that caught my eye WNBC have a new podcast called “Better Health”.
