Somehow I missed this. The Miami New Times does a “Best of…” every year that also includes Best TV station, reporter etc.
For 2005 the Miami New Times named 7s Carmel Cafiero their choise for Best TV News reporter for her gotcha style of journalism and for her “tenacity of a fercious pit bull”.
Best TV Station for 2005 – WSVN-TV. For providing “hours of mindless entertainment.” and the best Sunday night line up on TV /yay for Teh Simpsons/. Readers’ choice WPLG.
Best TV News anchor – 10′s Dwight Lauderdale – the most trusted and respected, and for not leaving the Channel 10 ship when big networks come knocking unlike Rick Sanchez and Shephard Smith. Readers’ choice 10′s Matt Lorch.
Best Weather Caster – suprirse, the National Weather Service and National Hurricane Center for giving us the straight dope without any “entertaining sping on partly cloudy with a chance of rain”
Best Sportscaster – Lindsay Czarniak, then at WTVJ – because she gave up a career as a CNN producer to become a DolFan and for not just being a pretty girl “talking about the big handsome men of the NFL”
