Someone posted in the comments that ex-WSVN meteorologist Tom Johnston is now working at WFTX-FOX4 in Ft Myers as their chief meteorologist. He’s apparently been there since August 2006

Johnston was fired from WSVN last year when he and colleague Jonathan Novak got into an argument over work schedules with Johnston allegedly grabbing or hitting Novak.

According to newsblues, he was promoted to chief and the former chief was “demoted” to weekends.

Damn, the chief must have sucked. I think WSVn got rid of mostly because the wanted Brent Cameron back and entirely because of the fight between himself and Novak.

Thank gawd TJ showed up over here, now we have one person that represents on-air “talent” in this market…..

It doesn’t matter which station you turn to in SW Florida, it’s no better than a high school AV class on the east coast. Miscued stories, wrong video, anchors talking over reporters…no NATIONAL reporting what-so-ever.

Welcome Tom………there’s hope for us yet!

Johnston won’t be in Ft. Myers long. He’s next in line for the Chief Met job at Fox 29 in Philly. I just read it on his MySpace.
