Maybe I’m wrong, but it seems they’ve definitely tried to make her as hispanic looking as possible compared to how she looked before when in Texas which was much more Asian.

eh. just another non-local hire. not as cute as Beatriz either. guess someone at CBS likes her.

She was trying a tad bit too much and had on way too much make-up. Looks like she has talent though and once she get comfortable she will fit in. Cant get how they chose her over Beatrice though.
BTW Admin, she is 5 and 11. not at 6.

Beatriz deserved that top job. She’s been overlooked too many times, once at 7 and now at 4. Its time she went somewhere where she’s appreciated.

Shannon—WELCOME BACK!
Great job last night…my only beef, tone down on the makeup and add some lip gloss. This is Miami after all.

Has anyone ever thought that Beatriz doesn’t want the main anchor job? After all, she has small children at home and the main anchor job would require her to work the 11.
Shannon is alot like Maggie personality wise. Viewers will soon see that. Give her a chance South Florida!

David, When they made the changes a few months ago, Elliot and Maggie did 5-6 p.m. and then Robb and Joy came on at 6 p.m. Shannon did that same shift yesterday.
Sean, isnt Beatrice there until 11 after doing My33 News at 10. half hour extra isnt that much.

most of the time anchors don’t leave 3 minutes after the newscast is over so it wouldn’t be a half hour only. And she’ll have to be at the station at 2-3pm in the afternoon.

Shannon seemed to change her anchor approach a bit to better fit the style of CBS4. She was a little more demanding in her look and tone of voice than what she looked/sounded like in Texas. But you have to also remember that she made the transition from anchoring mornings to evenings where the terrain is a little different. I would suspect her makeup to look a little more natural today – that was really my only complaint. FORNEWS thought the makeup made her look more Hispanic versus an Asian look in Texas – I have to agree and given how station management try to appeal to certain audiences I would guess management had some role in her make decision. Nevertheless Shannon seems like a good fit for both CBS4 and Miami.
On another note – I don’t get CBS4’s dress code, specifically men having to wear white or blue shirts. It looks rather boring. Let them wear some color. Plus when any of the on air talent is wearing white it’s too much of a contrast for at least my eyes. I don’t know about you guys?

Men should wear something else than suits and ties they don’t really need them while reciting the latest fluff story.
Although dark suit with stripes looks pretty good

Sorry, I just don’t get what CBS4 is going for. It seems to me that Beatriz is more credible. I agree she must have passed up the offer. However if she didn’t and moves over to 6 or 10 then 4 will really be in trouble.

My husband and I just returned from a trip to Florida. When we returned, I missed seeing Shannon with Scott on my favorite morning news. I did a search this morning trying to find out what happened and where Shannon was. You are very blessed to have her in Florida. I will miss you Shannon.

2 cents:
Shannon is a lot like Laurie Jennings in that she has that “pro” delivery and style. Kudos to her for a job well done so far.
The only criticism I have is that she seems to have a tendency to look over at Eliot (instead of continuing to look at the camera) at the end of each spiel during the single-person shots. On a two-person shot, no problem, but on the single-person shot it doesn’t make sense.

BTW, admin, Brian Andrews looked great in his khaki suit with the blue shirt when he did the piece on affordable apartment housing on Miami Beach. These guys that loosen their ties for the “casual” look should just wear polo shirts or something.

Joe, I was thinking the same thing about Shannon having a little Laurie qualuty. Especially during Laurie’s WSVN days. It almost as if the bews was so hot, she couldnt sit still.

I miss Shannon being on Dallas’ CBS 11 station (I’m in DFW), but it looks like Miami nabbed a good one. And obviously a very highly attractive one at that.
Oh well, guess it’s back to Alexa Conomos over at Dallas’ ABC affiliate

If ya’ll don’t want Shannon or want to change her makeup or whatever, we (I) would sure like for her to be back in Fort Worth/Dallas (Dallas is a suburb of Fort Worth).

Ms. Hori,
Opinions are like rectal orifices -everyone has one! Ignore all the unfavorable comments made by the nay sayers in Miami, be yourself and make us proud of you. You are a very beautiful young lady and all those that have expressed how much they miss you in Orlando and Dallas can’t be wrong.
Miami is a city like no other, opinionated, hypocritical, envious, and disjointed – you can’t please all the people all the time!! God bless yuo, good luck and welcome to my life….

She’s done a good job so far……but unfortunately now local news is becoming too much fluff anyway so good solid reporting is not always getting done.
We’ll see how she does on a hurricane or natural disaster, etc.

SHANNON, I’VE BEEN SEARCHING FOR YOU SINCE YOUR LEFT. I THINK IT WAS VERY UNPROFESSIONAL OF CHANNEL 11 NOT TO INFORM THE VIEWER’S THAT YOU HAD A JOB OFFER FROM ANOTHER STATION, AND THEY LEFT US WITH THAT DYSLEXIA SCOTT SAMS.

We miss you in the mornings in Dallas but wish you nothing but the best in Miami. I hope South Florida knows how fortunate they are to have such a sweet and sincere personality on the airwaves each evening.

Shannon,
I was hoping you were on vacation until I found out that you moved to Miami. Good luck at the new job, DFW news is worse for your leaving. I enjoyed you in the mornings the past several years. I hope you find your way back to Texas in the future.

Shannon,
You left without warning! Texas’ loss is Florida’s gain.
Good luck in Florida, as a previous commenter wrote earlier, you’ve left as with that dyslexia Scott Sams!
Well, at least I will only have the sweet memories of the opportunity on meeting Shannon at a Texas function and drew a caricature of her, she was very flattered and impressed that she rewarded me with some kisses!
Someone top that!

The news here in Dallas isn’t the same. I miss Shannon and Miami doesn’t know what a great gal they got. Her and Doug were the best news team ever. Julie and Theresa sure do miss you – the cahnnel isn’t the same here without you!!!!
Hope you like Miami Shannon – hopefully they will come to love you as Dallas did. Although they won’t appreciate you like this town!

If it wasn’t for Julie and Teresa, Chanel ll would be going down the tubes in the morning in Texas. I wondered what happened to Shannon. My husband is devastated!!!!!! Florida is so lucky to get her.

Shannon,
It truly was a surprise to see that you had left Dallas. I had been wondering what happened. My search today revealed your new adventure. It sure was a great team with Dan Julie Theresa and of course Shannon. It seemed as if you all were very close and it showed in the broadcast. It felt like I was with friends in the morning. Mornings are not the same. Good luck in your new endeavor. I’m sure you’ll do well.

What you all might not know is that Shannon was a Florida girl before she was in Texas. We watched her faithfully in Orlando for several years before she departed for Dallas. The Miami market will fall in love with her just as we did. Shannon is captivating, funny, approachable and knowledgeable…she is the total package!

I cannot believe Shannon is gone! She always seemed to be upbeat and had a great on-air persona despite getting up very early in the mornings. She was always very personable when reporting out in the field and was truly a great and uplifting spirit to the North Texas area. She has been replaced temporarily by CBS 11 News anchor/reporter Ginger Allen. And while both are certainly pleasing to the eyes, the morning line-up will again take some getting used to. There seemed to genuine chemistry between Doug, Shannon, Julie and Teresa. I am not sure in this case change is necessarily for the better. I guess the issue I have is the departure was so abrupt when I really feel Shannon would have been given a farewell worthy of a princess
had there been time. I have no doubt Miami will embrace her as we did. We will certainly miss her!

Hello Shannon,
I have been wondering what happened to you at CBS 11 here in Dallas. I miss you! I started watching CBS 11 in the a.m. because of you and
Doug Dunbar several years ago and loved you two as anchors and
Julie Bologna.
I don’t know why people have to go and mess up a “good thing”…
Take care and good luck!

Scott Sams just doesn’t have enough to carry the Morning Show.
I really miss both Doug and Shannon, but mostly Shannon.
I have to believe that you might have stayed longer at CBS11 if Doug was still there instead of Sam. I moved to FOX4 just because of Scott.
Oh well, to each his own.
We will miss you forever here in DFW

Maggie Rodriguez was too plastic and never seemed sincere. Why do people always talk about how anchorwomen look rather than ..Do they have journalistic talent or not. I want to check the news of the day, I am not interested in a beauty contest. Give Shannon a chance.

I’m not much of a late evening news person, but was channel surfing a couple of weeks ago when I stumbled upon the WFOR broadcast featuring Shannon Hori. She is by far one of the most upbeat, professional and articulate newscasters we have in Miami. She is also absolutely beautiful and a pleasure to watch. Welcome to Miami Shannon, you have a fan here!

I think Shannon is simply trying to return to WESH in Orlando. She always wanted the top job there. But I guess when Wendy Chioji didn’t give up the top job Shannon moved on. Now she’s returned to Florida, but I’m sorry she’ll NEVER be able to replace or fill in for Wendy. Wendy Chioji is just miles beyond Shannon’s ability in all areas. I just don’t get it jumping from market to market. I’m sure or hope she got more money for the move. But why not settle, become part of the community and stop moving so much.

It was truly a dark day when Shannon left the D/FW area. Like Miami didn’t have enough sunshine already. We miss you Shannon. I still watch because of Julie and Teresa. Scott Sams is incompetent and he and whoever decided to hire him should be cut loose ASAP.
