TV Decoder says Obama’s convetion speech got 38.3 million viewers beating the American Idol finale, Olympics opening ceremony and the Oscars.

Nielsen included all the broadcast networks, msnbc, cnn, fox news, bet, TV One but does not include PBS or C-SPAN. PBS averaged 3.5 million viewers between 8 and 11pm. Which would put the ratings at 41.8 million viewers.

Awesome, perfect reason to kill American Idol now.

I watched on CSPAN. So I guess my viewership didn’t count and probably countless others. They were the only ones (at least that I thought at the time) that I could the convention that night without commercial interuption and ESPECIALLY without the talking anchors giving me THEIR opinions.
Being in news, I wanted to see the people, the pomp and the circumstance leading up to the Obama speech non interupted. I wanted to see ALL of it and not what the networks thought was important for me to see. And I got my fix!!!
    Good job viewers!
Now I can’t way to see the numbers the Rep’s bring in.
It may legitmize TVJ not sending anyone. Does anyone care to see a now 72 year old accepting a nomination with a brunette version of his wife as a running mate? Answer to come next week.

Well, I’d like to see what the other party has to say, so that I get both sides of the election. Yes, I know the VP pick was a shocker, but if it’s any good I’m all for it. With that said, let’s keep track of what stations in Miami and West Palm send reporters to St. Paul, if possible, hmm?

That was a great speech. Alex- WSVN may be a Fox station, but it’s not owned by them, like up here in Boston.
But I was curious to see what Fox News had to say about his speech. And guess what, they ripped it apart and basically said it was crap. I wonder what they’ll say about McCains speech…

    BTW I watched on CNN

Oh yeah, i watched Fox news last night with that ignorant ass Bill O’Riley. He talked in this condescending tone about his speech that just made me cringe.

Will McCain be able to stay up past 9 (Central) to giv ehis speech? And will VP Sarah give her speech from a podium, or are they getting her a firepole?
