WJW Fox Cleveland Ridiculous Bear Story
WJW FOX 8 Cleveland, OH does a story on a local bear in the woods. Must watch!
That really aired on TV, all 2 minutes of it. And TV newsers say Miami is the most ridiculous market in the country.

I disagree with your assessment of the story being ridiculous. This was a creative way at doing a video starved story. What else would you show? Lots of empty shots of the woods?
Nicely done.

It was damn funny but I don’t think that was what the reporter wanted. Creative yes, serious no. Distracting at best, you lose the message while laughing at the reporter antics.

Completely absurd. Reminded me of a high school show-and-tell project.
So what’s next – reporters carrying cardboard cutouts of “perpetrators” recreating crimes for viewers to see?
Imagine, say, Nicole Linsalata running from a convenience store behind a cardboard cutout of a guy with a gun to show viewers “what it was like”.

It was obviously done tongue-in-cheek. It was SUPPOSED to be funny, and it was.

This is the very epitome of how ridiculous TV news has become. Everyone knows that TV news is nothing but glue holding commercials together. And the hilarity of TV news ‘defenders’ trying to suggest that the story was ‘supposed’ to be funny and ‘obviously’ tongue-in-cheek. If I wanted to defend my industry against ridicule, I’d say that too.

Chris, have you ever heard of a feature story? They didn’t run it in the first block, and they didn’t tease it as hard news story. Get over yourself.
