WTVJ Extends ‘Today Show’ Coverage

Today Show Logo
Because of the recent cancelation of the NBC6 AM weekend news, WTVJ has taken the option of broadcasting the 7AM hour of the Sunday Today Show. Weekend editions of ‘The Today Show’ are two hours; although individual stations can decide which hour they would like to cover. For the past years, WTVJ has opted not to broadcast the 7AM hour on Sundays to show the local news. Because of the cancellation, ‘Today’ can now be viewed in it’s entirety on Sundays.
Due to the fact that there’s no AM weatherman on-call, the Today Show local weather cuts simply show the national temperature maps with background noise from the meteorologist/audience.

Wow…if there isn’t even local weather when we’re supposed to know “what’s happening in your neck of the woods,” it clearly means things are desperate at 6.

No offense to the swell folks who do ‘TV weather,’ but they aren’t ‘needed’ any more. People may ‘like’ them and ‘want’ them, but no one ‘needs’ a TV weather person these days. The little web applications are marvelous and altogether capable, minus the awkward mannerisms of your typical weather man or lady as they try feverishly to create their own ‘identity.’ The sad thing for the Locals is that even when the economy does recover, most of these jettisoned newscasts won’t come back with it.

Completely disagree. Sure, get your forecast from WeatherBug… or TWC’s Locals on the 8′s/weather.com… or some app on your iPhone. But, half the time those forecasts aren’t accurate enough… and don’t provide enough detail.
Also, what would you do in a hurricane?

I think those forecasts are accurate. It shows clouds coming on my iPhone radar, I know it’s going to rain, and it usually does!
As for hurricanes, I know what to do.. You think we are all stupid and need TV to tell us what to do?

Are you sure Alex? I normally wouldn’t ask, but who is your source on this? I thought they just had an extra hour because there was no MTP this weekend.

According to my Comcast program guide, “First Look” is to be aired at 7AM, followed by “The Wall Street Journal Report” at 7:30 and Today, exclusivly at 8AM. MTP moves to 9AM and Chris Matthews moves to 10AM.

Heres a way to get those great Comcast deals even if your not a new customer. Call the cancelation dept and tell them you want to cancel your service if you dont get their ad deal. Its worked, I got Comcast for all 3 services locked in for 2 years plus HBO free for 2 years!!!
