WPLG Local 10 NewsWPLG are done with experimenting to see which anchors are working best by letting them “audition” over several weeks.

Post-Newsweek president Emily Barr allegedly didn’t think it was a good idea because it may confuse viewers so she put an end to it. By next week we should see what the permanent anchor teams are. Depending on who I talk to some say we’ll see big changes, while others believe nothing too radical should be expected.

The change probably has to do with ratings. The numbers for WTVJ have picked up since last year, their newscasts are a lot more watchable, and not as stale and drab as they were before the station unveiled a new set and studio in July of 2012. And then there’s WFOR, who as of late have promoted their weekday morning newscast as being the fastest growing.

Kelly Blanco is the newest WTVJ traffic reporter. Her debut was this morning.

Blanco has been freelancing for a while before joining WTVJ, working as a field reporter for MSN, Visit Florida and also weekend sports anchor at WQAM 560 Sports Radio.

WTVJ reporter Donna Rapado is no longer with the station as of late last week. No exact info on why yet. Rapado has been reporting and anchoring for WTVJ since November 2010 when she joined from  the local ABC Radio bureau.

AdamBergMeteorologist Adam Berg is the newest member of the WTVJ NBC6 weather team. If he looks very familiar to you that is because Berg was most recently a Weather Channel meteorologist. He at TWC since 2003 until October of 2012 when him and several other employees were laid off.

Berg is originally from Chattanooga, TN and holds a B.S. in Meterology from Pennsylvania State University. He made his debut on NBC6 last night.

WTVJ anchor Jawan Strader was moved to weekday mornings and will be anchoring alongside Pam Giganti. Keith Jones, who was actually brought in from Tampa as a morning anchor, will be with Trina Robinson at 5:30pm has been moved to weekend evenings. The change is effective this Monday morning.
