WPTV Meteorologist Steve Weagle Raises $52k With Bike Ride

TCpalm reporting WPTV chief meteorologist Steve Weagle has raised $52,110 for the Red Cross with his annual bike ride from Sebastian to Boca Raton.

Every year in June Weagle hits the road on bike to bring awareness of the importance to be ready for hurricanes. Throughout he stops at area hotspots and raises money for the local chapters of the Red Cross. WPTV viewers also chimed in with donations of $7,610 and one anonymous viewer donated $5,000!

Every year for the last 11 years Steve Weagle, WPTV’s chief meteorologist, embarks on a 120-mile trip to support hurricane awareness for the American Red Cross.

His trip will start on May 31st at 1pm  at Sebastian River Medical Center and end on June 2nd at the Port St. Lucie Civic Center. Throughout the ride Weagle will make a stop at several places and plug-in live to WPTV’s afternoon and evening newscasts along with a live crowd.

Last year Weagle raised $37,120 for the local Red Cross chapter

Steve Weagle’s 5-day Bike Ride Starts Monday

This Monday, June 1st, WPTV chief meteorologist Steve Weagle will kick off his annual bike ride in support of hurricane awareness and support for the the North Treasure Coast Chapter of the American Red Cross.

The 120-mile trek from Sebastian to Boca Raton usually takes about two hours with a car but it takes 5 days with a bycicle.

He’s expected to stop at two area restaurants in Fort Pierce and Port St. Lucie where he’ll give the forecast and the businesses will each give the Red Cross a with $1000 check.
