NBC is the new FOX: “I’m a Celebrity” Thoughts

The NBC show “I’m a Celebrity… Get Me out of Here!” premiered last night. The former ABC show was picked up by NBC following the UK format of four shows a week. Some of the “A-List” stars featured on the show are Patricia Blagojevich, the wife of impeached Illinois governor Rob Blagojevich (who’s now a celebrity?), and Sanjaya Malakar, the former American Idol contestant who everyone loved to hate.
Great celebs, NBC! As if this classy show could get any better, they air live and pointless banter from the Costa Rica jungle every night. Wouldn’t you expect this crap from FOX, the creator of such jems like “Who Wants to Marry a Multi-Millionaire?” and “When Animals Attack!” Wasn’t NBC the network for “Must See TV.” I guess it never really hit home to me how horrible NBC has become… Plus, as we all know, it reflects in their Local Media department as well.
So, what are your thoughts on the new NBC series.

  2. I disagree. I think the new show is amazing. What a great idea and I think it will bring NBC out of the dumps. We have already seen a huge ratings jump on some of our shows because we are running segments about the new primetime show. I think finally NBC has found a gold mine. WTVJ is back!!!

  3. No. The show is amazing and our GM had a meeting with people saying that i is helping to bring up our ratings. Now with Trina doing the news and JoeCarter anchoring more, we are really heaed for the stars. I think there are just so many haters at NBC. The simple fact was once we got rid of our dead weight, we have a younger an more energetic group that will bring in the viewers.

  4. There is absolutely nothing wrong with our management. We have some of the best in the business, but when you have mediocre talent, that’s where the problem lies.

  5. Well, who hired the weak talent? There’s plenty of blame to go around for the decline in all media. You can’t defend management that keeps Nespral, Rose, Lewis, et al, gainfully employed.

  6. As to the original question, I HATE “reality” TV shows, which makes me the exception, I know. But I see one coming with great potential–something that took a little bit of thought and some ingenuity, for a change. And I don’t think it requires you to vote via ATT Wireless. Get this-it’s called “Man vs. Cartoon” and it premieres in about two weeks on truTV (the network formerly known as Court TV). This show will attempt to replicate the old Wile E. Coyote Acme stunts in real life. I hope it is as funny as it sounds. Has to be better than “Real Housewives of Oshkosh.”
