Now that the country has had enough of Dr Phil’s shtick and ratings have dropped, WPLG are not renewing the rights to air the talker and will be resurrecting their 5pm newscast. The station is already running promos announcing the changes.
Rick Sanchez, formerly of WSVN, MSNBC and CNN, is back in South Florida and on the air. Miami Herald reporter Adam Beasly says Sanchez will be announcing FIU football this season on the radio, replacing Jorge Sedano of 790FM who also works with WFOR.

Maggie Newland has joined WFOR as a reporter, after 3 years reporting for KSTP, the ABC affiliate in Minneapolis-St. Paul. Prior to that Newland spent three and a half years reporting at WBBH in Fort Myers. Check out her demo reel after the jump
WFOR are shifting anchors and changing their newscast lineup a bit.
First there will no longer be a separate newscast at 5:30pm. It’s now an hour-long program running from 5pm to 6pm anchored by Eliott Rodriguez and Shannon Hori. Both of them will also anchor the 11pm newscast. Antonio Mora will anchor the 6pm newscast [...]
In March of 2010 former WFOR sports anchor and reporter Prim Siripipat left the station amid all the changes and layoffs that were happening at the time. Now it appears she’s back on TV anchoring for ESPN, not a bad move upmarket.
