I missed this one too but better late then never.

Angela Rae isn’t just deciding to move on from CBS4, she’s hanging it up on the TV biz.
CBS4.com has an article about her decision to leave
I forgot about these! The regional Emmy awards took place on December 2. Altogether South Florida stations took 21 awards:
WFOR 4, WTVJ 5, WSVN 2, WPLG 4, WSCV 3, WPTV 2, WPBF 1
2006 Suncoast Regional Emmy Award Winners
2006 Suncoast Regional Emmy Award Nominees
Someone sent this the other day, it’s an email note from Angela Rae sent the WFOR newsroom.
I want to wish all of you a very Merry Christmas and a wonderful New Year. I will not see most of you after the new year, so I wanted to take this
opportunity to wish you the best year ever. When I was a little girl, I spent 25cents on a ring from a bubblegum machine. The ring said, LIVE, LAUGH, LOVE! It’s the best piece of jewelry I’ve ever owned and it began my lifelong love affair with all things sparkly. That aside, I want you all to do those three things to the max, as will I.
If I can ever do anything for any of you, please don’t hesitate to call!
God bless you all and pray for world peace.
Warmest Regards,
Angela Rae
Former WSVN-er Rick Sanchez has been named the new prime-time weekend anchor for CNN Newsroom.
Boston’s 7News At 10 on CW56 debuted last night and all indicators point that it’s a carbon copy of WSVN. Graphics, music, pace and content are all derived from WHDH’s South Florida sibling.
The newscast is anchored by Frances Rivera and WPLG alum Matt Lorch.
One thing I thought was interesting is what Ed Ansin said when asked about the new newscast
The industry is changing very rapidly … and situation we have is to either progress or slip behind so this is a big step to us…
Makes sense, especially with NBC offering prime time shows online for free or fee on iTunes, VOD, and probably bittorent, wireless and who knows where else.
Remains to be seen whether Boston is ready for it’s own version of WSVN though!
The link below has a video from WHDH’s newscast giving viewers a preview
Angela Rae will be leaving CBS4 soon. The suits have opted not to renew her contract.
She got passed for the morning anchor job on CBS4 when Susan Barnett left and has been relegated to the My33 morning newscast. Allegedly it was a mutual agreement

Guy Rawlins is leaving NBC6 and moving to WESH Orlando as the main sports anchor
Let’s celebrate another success story. Guy Rawlings is leaving NBC 6/WTVJ to assume the primary sports anchor position at WESH in Orlando. Guy first joined
WTVJ 10 years ago as a sports reporter. He soon became the sports anchor for the WB and weekend sports anchor for NBC 6. Guy has been instrumental in covering some of the biggest highlights in South Florida Sports - the championship wins for the Heat, Marlins and Panthers. Let’s not forget coverage of the Hurricanes - the team on the field and of course the storms of 2004 and 2005.Guy’s first assignment with WESH begins in January - covering his beloved Florida Gators in the National Championship in Arizona.
As a result of Guy’s departure, Adam Kuperstein will assume weekend sports anchoring duties.
Steve Albert one of Channel 10’s photographers has died unexpectedly yesterday. He had been with the station for 29 years.
The other 7, from Boston, is getting the new graphics treatment at 11pm Today.
No word on what WSVN is doing but I’d guess they are close to debuting their new wears especially with the new bumps they were slipping in.
BTVN might have screens of the new look so head on over there at 11:01pm and start hitting refresh
KPRC, when I saw that station for the first time I thought they were owned by someone from WSVN.
It was even crazier than the 7, big swooshy graphics, a studio that looked suspiciously like The Plex. Until recently they looked like a WSVN clone from 90s.
Then when KPRC’s ratings tanked they decided it was time for a change and unveiled a brand new set. Very boring one at that. Typical
Here’s a video from their newscast showing off the new set. I can’t find any photos of the previous one to compare but the new digs look very bare and sterile

NBC 2.0 has come to town and claimed its first casualty. NBC has decided not to renew Michael Williams’ contract and he’ll be out as of January leaving, probably, Jackie Nespral handling the 11pm newscast by herself (and the little elfs behind the scenes).
I’d personally vote to have Julia Yarbough (sp?) anchor the 11pm.
As many of you know we have been exploring new formats and evolving our newscasts. Beginning January 2007 we are moving to a single anchor format for our 11pm newscast. As a result, Michael Williams will be leaving NBC6 at the end of the year and will look for other anchor opportunities inside and outside the company.
Michael has played a significant role as a reporter and anchor. His passion for great journalism and his personal integrity has made our product and our people better. We are grateful for all he has contributed.
Please join me in wishing Michael the very best in his future endeavors.
All the talk of WPLG having huge numbers must be true. An anonymous tipster sent what looks to be an internal memo sent to WPLG employees after the sweeps and it looks like they will be breaking the champagne:
Today is the last day of November ratings. The final numbers will be out tomorrow, but the race is over and it’s already clear we are the big winner. We
are number one at 6pm and 11pm. We beat everyone, including the Spanish language stations. An English station hasn’t beaten the Spanish stations for many, many years. In fact it was so long ago, the research department is still trying to figure out the last time that’s happened. Remember there are only two major Spanish stations that divide the Spanish language viewers. There are six major
English stations, so Spanish stations almost always get higher numbers. We didn’t just win. We dominated. Our 6pm news wins by more than 3 rating points. We double WFOR and WTVJ and nearly doubled WSVN. Our 11pm news wins by more than a full rating point. ABC doesn’t get the credit for this either. While ABC has some strong programming at 8pm and 9pm, the 10pm shows are struggling. We won the 11pm news because viewers have sampled our product and decided to come back night after night because they like us. The story doesn’t
end here. Our morning newscasts, Monday through Friday and the Saturday and Sunday mornings, are also showing tremendous growth. Dave will send out more details on the specific numbers sometime tomorrow or the next day, but I wanted to take this opportunity to congratulate everyone on an incredible job.
NEW EMAIL ADDRESS!
For a while now the blog’s email account has been getting 300-500 spams a day and it’s becoming increasingly hard to sort the legit from the crap so I changed the email address and will re-route the old one to bounce all received messages within the next several weeks.
To those of you using the contact form nothing’s changed as far as that’s concerned, it’s all stuff on the back end so you are not affected. I’ll continue to get anything you send that way.
For those of you who have the direct email address you can:
