It was only a matter of time but Mark Schumacher is leaving WPLG and the TV news biz for a job as director of the Chris Evert Children’s Hospital Foundation at Broward General Medical Center.
Schumacher was the anchor of the morning news on Channel 10 for 12 years and also part of the Problem Solvers team, but after WPLG hired a new guy Schumacher got moved to weekend mornings and part-time reporting during the week.

Admin, if you read most criticism columns, the comments get rough. For better or worse, if you choose a life in front of the public, be prepared for the slings and arrows that come with it. The ones we get especially harsh about (I suspect) have such massive egos that anything we say won’t even bother them. I tried to tone it down once and went from the R-rated word I wanted to use down to “twerp” and was vilified for my limited vocabulary. I promise to stop being so mean-spirited as soon as the FCC yanks Sunbeam’s broadcasting licenses (all of them!)!
Admin, I believe that most people who post here genuinely want to make their opinions known so that the “powers that be” in TV news will be aware that they don’t operate in a complete vacuum - that there are people out there who care and who want to see better newscasts with talent that deserves to be there (not just on looks or how much silicone they have). If you remember what this post was first about - how Ch 10 forced a talented guy like Schumacher out for a very stiff unknown like Calvin Hughes, that’s what really is the issue. And how this has been a pattern at Ch 10 if you think of people like John Gerard & Elliot Rodriguez who were forced out and replaced by women with no talent (anyone remember Gina Cancilliere’s weathercasts or Gwen Belton’s news delivery???).
Not a hater, basher or name-caller - merely pointing out the obvious.
Right on!! I was once told if you are worth a darn be sure Ch.10 will get rid of you. Talent= Bye Bye. The powers that be there have NO CLUE whatsoever and that will never change. Don’t get me wrong they do have some prime people but you’ll see in time they too will end up leaving. That’s just the way that operation works. Ridiculous.
On the subject of Local 10, it appears that Neki Mohan is expecting! Hadn’t noticed until last night, when she delivered a story standing up. At that time, I also noticed her ring (maybe I’m just unobservant).
I would love to see a pic of those two idiots dressed up for halloween, where did you see them ?

wooo I actually happen to be a huge fan of Neki, we went to the same high school and I think she is great. This is a blog so naturally her being a TV personality people will ask questions. For all of you people bashing on-air talent:
It’s so easy for you all to take anonymous pot shots at folks who earn their living on the air. In reality, if anybody really saw what you did and what you looked like at work every day, they may be as vicious (if not more so)than you guys are to the on-air talent in SoFla.
Those kind of negative comments speak volumes of your cowardice…as I’m certain NONE of you haters would ever say any of those things to their faces.
Mr. Jim Husk, your not the first person to make those exact same comments, and although I have not said anything to insult any of the on air talent, I do have to disagree with you. These people go on the air to hundreds of thousands of people everyday - they need to have “thick skin” as Mr. admin once said. Im sure they’re used to it, if they are willing to put themselves in the public spotlight they need to be ready to take the good and the bad. Im sure any onair talent will tell you the same thing. Their is nothing wrong with critcizing them (insulting them may be a different story) but this is a free country.
