Hacked

I just got a note from the server administrators my server has been hacked and used to attack other servers.

As such I have to check all files and may possibly have to take the server offline to make sure something else hasn’t been compromised.

Fox Orlando Studio Cam

foxorlandostudio2.jpg

FOX35 in Orlando have put up several live cams from their studios - 2 of the set and 1 from the newsroom presumably to show off their new set.
Good idea but it’d be much more interesting if they were to broadcast the feed using Stickam.com or Ustream.tv with audio and all :)

7 Sports Xtra with a new set

Sports Xtra has a new set, new to me anyway and it looks like it’s virtual not hard set. They probably ran out of room or are building something. Or got tired of building sets for 2 years and slapped something up in Photoshop :D

WPTV-Ch. 5 was the highest- rated station in Florida during the May sweeps. However, its hold on some of the key time periods in its own market, most notably late news, is getting more tenuous. WPEC-Ch. 12 and WPBF-Ch. 25 have each made inroads into the dominance WPTV has enjoyed since the advent of TV in the Palm Beach market.

WFLX-Ch. 29 also has something to crow about from the May sweeps ratings. Its late news, which airs at 10 p.m., an hour earlier than its competitors, has the second-highest ratings in the market. Credit the “American Idol” influence. Conversely, WPTV is hindered by the collapse of NBC in prime time. That it can hold No. 1 in late news with such weak lead-ins is an achievement.

Channel 5 also maintained its dominance in the most contested news time slots, leading at 5, 5:30, 6 and 11 p.m. At 6 p.m., Channel 5 still beats WPEC and WPBF combined. However, WPEC continues to make inroads, as the only station in the market showing gains in all three early evening newscasts. WPEC also maintained its long-held supremacy in midday news.

WPTV still has a healthy lead in sign-on to sign-off. Channel 5 also maintained its dominance in the most contested news time slots, leading at 5, 5:30, 6 and 11 p.m. At 6 p.m., Channel 5 still beats WPEC and WPBF combined. It’s a much tighter race in late news where fewer than two ratings points separates top to bottom.

Despite the Idol influence on Fox’s WFLX and ABC’s ever-improving prime-time schedule on WPBF, WPEC managed to hold No. 1 in prime time with its lineup of CBS series. This helped WPEC grab second place overall, just ahead of WPBF.

Elita Loresca Just Spotted at out of town station

A regular tipster says Elita Loresca was just spotted at NBC10 in Philly. There are indications she will leave WSVN when her contract ends. Vivan Gonzalez was filling in today.

There’s talk Jonathan Novack is also leaving which if true can’t be good for 7 with hurricane season just around the corner.

Deco Drive Returns to the Internets

decoheader.jpg

5 minutes ago I was reading about PerezHilton raking $100k a month from advertising from such a no-brainer blog. Then as I digested the possibilites, I typed DecoDrive.com and surprise … Deco Drive has been rebirthed on the Internets! And it took them just 6-7 years.

The site’s nothing too fancy, follows the template from 7News, with re-purposed video of ‘Deco Dayside’ from ‘7News at 4′ used as a preview for the show at 7:30. Somewhat confusing if you watch it a day later with that tag above saying “Tonight on Deco Drive”. A lot of AP stories and more video in the Deco News section from 7News broadcasts.

I’ve always wondered with the success of TMZ and Perez why aren’t they pushing Deco Drive more. It won’t make $100k a month but the potential is most definitely there since people already know the brand, and the show gets pretty good ratings. Get those interns to work they need the credits :D

Maggie Rodriguez Signs Off; Viewers Say Goodbye

maggierodriguezlastgoodbye.jpg Last night Maggie Rodriguez wished WFOR viewers good night for the last time before leaving the station for her new job at CBS The Early Show. Her colleagues gave her a nice send off and CBS4.com has a whole page of viewers well wishes.

So bummed I missed to DVR her last night, I thought she was leaving on the 25th.

After May Sweeps: WPLG To Party

The May sweeps aren’t over ’till Thursday evening but the local stations are abuzz about the results.

Word is WPLG has come on top 6 and 11pm with big numbers, 9+ ratings points big. The station is expected to beat all English AND Spanish stations for the top spot. Spanish stations have been beating English stations for a while so this is a great achievement for Channel 10.

If you have the breakdown by numbers feel free to drop it in the tip box

The May sweeps period was a grand slam for WPLG-Ch. 10. Miami-Fort Lauderdale’s ABC affiliate was the market’s most-watched station overall, leading the news pack at 6 and 11 p.m.

ABC’s prime-time lineup also came out on top. It was a case of ABC’s strength across the week, with series such as Grey’s Anatomy, Desperate Housewives, Dancing With the Stars and Lost, as opposed to the two-night jolt Fox’s American Idol provided to WSVN-Ch. 7, which finished second. The American Idol influence is illustrated by the impact it has on WSVN’s 10 p.m. newscast, which had a higher rating than any of its competitors, including WPLG, did at 11 p.m.

On Monday, WSVN news averaged a 4.7 rating (each point translates to just under 16,000 homes). On Tuesday, when Idol aired 8-9, leading into House, WSVN jumped up to 7.8. On Wednesday, with the Idol results show going directly into news, WSVN averaged 11.3. On Idol-less Thursday, it dipped to 5.5.

WPLG’s 6 p.m. news also got a big boost from Dr. Phil, which out-rates all the rival news programs between 5 and 6 p.m.

The telenovelas on WLTV-Ch. 23 had stronger prime-time Nielsens than any of the other English stations. WLTV also was runner-up to WPLG sign-on to sign-off and at 6 p.m. Spanish-language rival WSCV-Ch. 51 was second to WPLG at 11 p.m. with WLTV third and WTVJ-Ch. 6 and WFOR-Ch. 4 in a virtual deadheat.

In the 10 p.m. news battle between second-tier English stations, WSFL-Ch. 39 (owned by Sun-Sentinel parent Tribune Co.) finished ahead of WBFS-Ch. 33, but both were well behind Spanish-language WJAN-Ch. 41.

Jimmy Cefalo To Leave WPLG

Miami Herald’s Barry Jackson reports Jimmy Cefalo is leaving WPLG. Cefalo has decided not to renew his contract with Channel 10, his last day with the station is sometime in September.

Asked what he’ll do next Cefalo says he’ll focus on his wine business and that “his loyalties are with the Dolphins and WQAM”. Will Manso will be taking over Cefalo as main sports anchor.
