Layoffs Hit Univision
Even Spanish stations are not immune to the economy. That and the 11 billion dollar debt the company has!
Univision was hit by layoffs last week. Approximately 300 employees have been pink slipped which represents a little over 7% of Univision’s 4000 employees.
Among them are WLTV veteran political reporter Bernadette Pardo, morning anchor Iván Donoso, sports reporter Verónica Paysse. At Univision network Fernando Arau anchor of Despierta América is out as well.
Further, Univision stopped broadcasting the weekend edition of Primer Impacto.
CEO Joe Uva stated additional steps may be taken and the Miami Herald reports there are rumors some anchor’s contracts won’t be renewed next year.
