Former WTVJ lead news anchor Joel Connable departed from NBC6 just over seven months ago, and soon, you’ll be seeing him back on the TV airwaves in South Florida and nationwide in a revolutionary new way. It’s called ‘Travel TV News,’ and as Connable described it: “his dream job.” What is Travel TV News (TTN)? Andre Hepkins, who left WSVN in 2004 for nationally syndicated Celebrity Justice (I believe he was their New York reporter) is now back at WSVN. When CJ was canceled he stayed in NY as reporter for FOX affiliate WNYW but recently he and the station parted ways.
WSVN head mistress Alice Jacobs fired off an email to all the 7Newsies announcing his return calling him “the prodigal son” of 7News or something like that.
Celebrity Justice was hosted by another WSVN alum, Holly Herbert.
Andre Hepkins on 7News, HD, either today or Feb 18th. You are welcome.
*Why was she referring to him as the prodigal son?
Former Local 10 reporter Gwen Belton left WPLG in 2005 after her contract expired. Soon after, she joined CBS News, and now it is going local again. The CBS4 news director sent out a memo saying she was hired. No word of when she starts, or what her position will be. Gwen will be a reporter and fill in anchor, and is said to start sometime in September. Welcome back to South Florida, Gwen.
You can still read her WPLG profile, here.
/Thanks, tipsters!/

Chicago Sun-Times – Reporter goes home

Former WSVN-er and most recently WTVJ anchor Michael Williams is back on the local airwaves as a CBS4 News member. His first day on CBS4 News is today.
WFOR has been running promos about this for a while now touting Williams’ as one of the “best known and most respected” and his experience.
According to his bio on CBS4.com he is a reporter and backup anchor for CBS4 News.
It is official. Michael Williams is now part for the WFOR team. He starts in January 7 2008.
Williams left WTVJ a year ago and before that worked at WSVN.
Some tipsters say he’s replacing Brian Andrews so he will report and work with the investigative team and also fill-in anchor as needed.
Thanks to everyone for the flood of tips
Mark Joyella is returning to WPLG. He left in 2003 to join WNYW but as of January 2007 the station didn’t renew his contract.
His first day on the air at WPLG is December 3rd.
I just got a tip from someone saying Shireen Sandoval is coming back to Deco Drive as the second full time reporter for the show.
