Connie Hicks, former WPLG reporter now teaching broadcast news at Barry University, recently received 3 big boxes at her office full of memorabilia that belonged to legendary WPLG anchor Ann Bishop. The boxes came after Bishiop’s long time companion Helen Buckner, former reporter at Sun-Reporter in Miami Beach, died on October 28 in Texas.
Some of the memorabilia included Bishop’s trademark brown-and-white size 7M saddle shoes. Also dozens of photographs of Ann Bishop with famous people and media types including Pope John Paul II, Charles Gibson, Don Shula, Joan Lunden, Jimmy Cefalo and her former colleague and co-anchor Dwight Lauderdale with moustaches.
The University also received some memorabilia – framed letters from viewers

A WTVJ photog parked the company-owned Ford Explorer at the station’s main entrance at 4:30pm on November 25 only to return an hour later and find the front passenger-side window broken and the $25,000 Panasonic DVCPro camera, hidden in the trunk, gone. Someone knew what they were doing!
Miami Herald – TV Camera Stolen
At least that seems to be the conclusion of Johnny Diaz the TV critic at the Boston Globe.
WSVN complements Miami very well. It’s flashy with its bright radiant colors. It’s dramatic with its thunderous tech[n]o intro music. It’s sexy with its news teases. It’s a rush with its quick, back-to-back turn of stories. Basically, the station seduces its viewers, making you forget that you just sat and watched 1/2 or an hour of news.
He’s kind of right though – most people that I know from overseas who’ve seen 7 really like the energy and presentation.

It is official. Michael Williams is now part for the WFOR team. He starts in January 7 2008.
Williams left WTVJ a year ago and before that worked at WSVN.
Some tipsters say he’s replacing Brian Andrews so he will report and work with the investigative team and also fill-in anchor as needed.
Thanks to everyone for the flood of tips
