News update just ran
For a moment they had the empty anchor desk in 16:9 HD before putting the sidebars up and tossing to Tony Segreto, something went bad but there was HD for a second.

Reader Alain says the previous news update around 4pm ran in full HD

They’re having some issues I guess, I saw the news update at 5:40, it was in SD. And WSCV was randomly freezing.

Channel 6 has been having issues on their HD station lately… the other day during Ellen and the 6 pm news, the sidebars were flashing on and off for a while. Not the first time I’ve noticed that either. It got annoying to the point where I wanted to call the station and tell them about it – of course, then it stopped.

I hope WTVJ will be in HD soon. It come with new HD friendly graphics… the current news set getting some modifications… etc.

I hope the WSFL (CW 39) newscast will be included in the HD overhaul… and that WSCV will eventually follow suit. I also hope that WTVJ and WSCV could and might be working on upgrading their digital signals, and correcting the problems that viewers have been seeing.

If WTVJ-DT is going local HD, where are the teasers and promos??

I’d think that being the 1st local HD provider would be quite a coup…

Sounds like local HD is close! (finally :-) ) In the Orlando and Tampa HD start up, all stations had about 2 weeks of heavy local HD promotion, and there were articles in the newspapers and the like for each station as it came up. BUT along with that there was the occasional test “by accident” before the full time local HD went on the air. So, it sounds like you were fortunate enough to catch one. Another good time to see longer “oops tests” are at 1 to 3 AM. When seen up here, they were longer.
