This Tuesday, NBC’s 4-hour long morning show, TODAY, recently upgraded to a brand spankin’ new graphics package. ‘NBC Artwork’ kept quiet (and busy) developing the new and fresh. There was no leak or speculation of a new look (from what we can find).
In addition to the new look, TODAY has also started a new campaign, titled “Your Day is TODAY.” They released the new promo to help kick off the campaign. The apparent mission of this campaign is to celebrate the relationship between the TODAY show, and the TODAY show viewer, according to Bill Hartnet, who is the Senior Vice President of NBC Agency: East Coast. Get it? We’re all one big happy family.

WFOR CBS4 just launched a new cool weather radar this Thursday! They call it Doppler 4D, and it’s like nothing else in the South Florida TV news market. According to Craig Setzer’s Inside Weather Scoop Blog:
“A typical radar view is two dimensional. It is also typically the lowest “slice” out of a thunderstorm and indicates the intensity of rain (or possibly hail) falling out of the storm. If you loop the image you add the dimension of time and how the storm is changing over time. This, in some respects is three dimensions. We can also look at a radar image in the form of a “range height indicator” or RHI. Then you not only see a horizontal slice of the storm, but a vertical slice as well.”
“[…]So simple intensity of the storm is important and that’s what most radars show, but Doppler 4D shows the entire depth of the storm, revealing details we rarely see. Potential hail, extreme winds, even tornadoes show up when viewed in this much detail.”
With hurricane season already a month old, and a tropical weather system inevitable, this may be an edge WFOR needs. It seems to be common knowledge that WTVJ doesn’t have a chance in hell of gaining any viewers this hurricane season with their (small) all-star weather team – but WFOR has a chance. Thanks to Frank for Youtubing this. An open from today’s debut of WPLG’s new studios.
They’ve kept the same music, the open is refreshed but overall the look remains the same. The time/temp bug is now animated, an animated cube. Not too bad but somewhat distracting.
via the NBCMiami site – Is that the new on-air logo? They’re using it on parts of NBCMiami.com. Something tells me that the on-air version is going to look a tad different. Thoughts?
Tipsters have alerted me that this Tuesday or Wednesday, NBC6 will see their new graphics and music go live. From what I’ve been told, they’re going to be flashy with palm trees, most likely like KNBC’s graphics. See below after the jump. -Will NBC6 see a new logo? Updates below!-
Hello NBCMiami! SFLTV.com was the first to inform in early January of the new site and graphics changes at NBC6. Just as promised, here they are! (Kinda) Although no official launch date has been announced publicly by WTVJ, inside sources still tell me that the launch date is planned for March 16th. In addition to the new site, we’re still expecting to see the new NBC O&O graphics and music.
According to early reports, NBC6 will be debuting the new NBC O&O graphics, music, and the new NBC Miami site March 16th! For the annoying commenters who will not let it go, NBC6 WILL NOT BE GETTING A NEW SET. Why? Money. It’s not that hard to understand. Get over it, and be happy with what new you’re getting.
Oh it’s back. A brand new drama open for The Night Team in true 7News style.
A few years ago they used to do these teases for the late news a lot more often. Back then they’d have Craig and Laurie Jennings standing on the second floor where the big giant 7 logo used to be saying something like “It’s 10 o’clock and the night team is on” then the tease would roll. Made me wonder what it took to go over those rails.
And of course who can forget the promo with Craig and Laurie where they got spun around and poped on screen like they were beamed down from the starship Enterprise.
When I watch 7 and the stations here in Seattle the difference is shocking to say the least. Even the FOX station, KCPQ, is subdued and very conservative. They could easily put you to sleep. They are slower paced then even WTVJ. I can see why everyone who comes to Miami and sees 7 is so captivated or really hates them, they truly are one of a kind.
This is all relatively new information, most of which is alleged, but it’s all coming from an extremely reliable source that has always given me correct information in the past. According to this insider at NBC6, we should be seeing NBC Miami very soon, possibly by February. Here’s what i know, and don’t know.
