CNN announced Gray has joined the news network’s weather team at their headquarters in Atlanta as a meteorologist. She’s dating Weather Channel meteorologist Chris Warren who is also based in Atlanta, hence her move.
From CNN press release:
Jennifer Gray has joined CNN as a meteorologist, it was announced today by Terence Burke, vice president of newsgathering for CNN/U.S. Gray, who is a member of the National Weather Association and has earned the AMS Seal of Approval from the American Meteorology Society, will be based in Atlanta at the network’s global headquarters.
“Jennifer brings a versatile skill set as a meteorologist,” said Burke. “She will be a great addition for CNN with her experience in production, multimedia and reporting in the field.”
Prior to joining CNN, Gray was the weekend morning show meteorologist and a feature reporter for WTVJ, the NBC affiliate in Miami, where she covered severe weather in the field and helped produce specials that focused on hurricane preparedness and safety. She co-hosted and co-produced ‘Florida Insider Fishing Report’ for Sun Sports and ‘Beyond The Reef’ in conjunction with the Guy Harvey Ocean Foundation, raising awareness of conservation issues facing the oceans and Florida’s fisheries.
WTVJ meteorologist Jennifer Gray has left WTVJ, again. Monday’s 11am broadcast was the last day for her at NBC6.
Gray first joined WTVJ in July 2007 from KTBS in Shreveport, Louisiana. She stayed a couple of years until the summer of 2009 when she left NBC6 and went back to KTBS to be closer to her family and boyfriend. Two years later and Jennifer Gray returned to WTVJ in the fall of 2011, this time known as Reeves. She filed for divorce in early January of this year, was officially divorced by June, and changed her on-air last name back to Jennifer Gray.
Word has it she’s heading up north to Atlanta. Gray is dating weather hunk and Seattle native Chris Warren who works at The Weather Channel HQ in Atlanta hosting Weather Center.
WTVJ weekend meteorologist Jennifer Gray left South Florida in 2009 for KTBS to be closer to her boyfriend and family in Louisiana. Fast forward two years and she’s back at NBC 6, her boyfriend is now her husband and she’s now known to viewers as Jennifer Reeves. She’s again forecasting the weather on weekend mornings from 6am to 9am.
Things must be improving over at WTVJ, after layoffs and high profile talent leaving the station in the last 2 years, they’ve now added more news on weekends. ‘NBC Miami Today’ will run from 6am to 7am and then from 9am to 10am on Saturdays, and on Sundays from 6am to 8am. Sharon Lawson will anchor the show, with Jennifer Reeves on weather.
The press release says the expanded hours are the result “… of a significant company-wide investment in the 10 NBC-owned stations to further strengthen newsgathering operations”. Guess now that Zucker is out Comcast will perhaps make good on the promise to invest more in the local stations. And WTVJ needs all the help they can get
Jennifer Gray, NBC6’s weekend meteorologist is leaving WTVJ. A fan favorite from the start, she has decided to leave in a week. She is allegedly going back to her old station in Louisiana, KTBS. She has apparently decided to leave to be closer her family and boyfriend. Best of luck, Jen!
This now leaves a massive shortage at WTVJ. Who will take her place? Most are speculating Trina Robinson will fill in, which would most likely pull her off of the weekday 11AM show. This also will leave WTVJ with a shortage of meteorologists during a crucial time: hurricane season.
