The Voice of WSVN

18

If you ever wondered who is that guy you always hear on WSVN but never see there is a nice profile of him from yesterday’s Boston Globe courtesy Johnny Diaz.

Scott Chapin is the voice over for WSVN and its two sister stations in Boston WHDH and WLVI. He got his start when WSVN was transforming itself into what it is today after NBC dumped them and bought WTVJ. Chapin worked at the radio station next door to the newsplex. Today he’s the voice for 20 stations in four time zones, works 10-hour days from a little studio at his home in New Mexico thanks to modern technology and says he has no plans to hanging up any time soon.

  1. Admin. Thanks for posting this on the blog. I always wondered what Scott Chapin looked like. He has an awesome voice.

  2. The sudden drop-out of sound on the video apparently has to do with the video itself. I had to drag the file out of cache to try and get it to work with my system and even then, no luck. Too bad, I would have liked to see this video.

  3. I always wondered who was behind that voice! I am familiar with WSVN but I realize now he’s the same person on Fox in Atlanta. Great job! He’s a keeper.

  4. ha ha. Does he do the voice over for Deco Drive too? If it is they sometimes make him say some wacky stuff, lmao.

  5. he is the voice of deco as well yes
so far he’s the only one who can pull off all the things they make him say
and make it funny even if it isn’t all that

  6. Great to see the man behind such a famous voice. He is Channel Seven News! I hear him and immediately know what’s ahead!

That man has a dream job!

  7. It’s great to see WSVN’s version of News Never Stops.. very nice work. I actually prefer WHDH’s version though.. and the best part of that promo is that it contains the Boston theme song’s signature notes.

  8. HEY SCOTT, YOU SAY QUITE SOME STUFF! YOUR VOICE REALLY PROJECTS WELL! ARE THOSE YOUR WORDS OR DOES SOMEBODYS PUT THEM IN YOUR MOUTH. LOOKING FORWARD TO CAPTURING MORE OF THEM. THANX HAVE A NICE DAY
