New face on WFOR

WFOR has a new hire, almost right out of college. Newsies already dislike her for being green and “looking weak on the air” but she does have an interesting name - Nefertiti Ja’quez.

CBS4 Post sweeps promo

Someone emailed me saying CBS4’s post sweeps promo was great so I’ve set the DVR on to see if I can catch it tonite during their newscast. And if I do, I’ll post it asap.

Ex-con and TV reporter spar over sperm

Not what you think

The TV reporter is Michelle Gillen.
The ex-con is Alexander Moskovits.

He alleges fraud and emotional distress because Gillen kept his donated sperm so she can have a baby. But Gillen never intended to have a child just wanted to keep his sperm sample to “keep him in her life”.

7’s new promo

Well the sweeps are just done and 7 has a new promo already out. This one … it has a theme song with an upbeat tune
Goes something like this:

I never saw news like seven news
(I never saw news like seven news)

Somebody told me
you gotta watch seven
(The news stations seven)

Somebody told me
Somebody told me
You gotta watch seven
(Gotta watch)

The news stations seven
(seven seven seven)

It’s good and I can’t post it, so those of you who wrote me they saw it on TV maybe send me a link or something if you have it

Video of Burt Reynold’s slap

If you haven’t seen it by now here it is. Burt Reynolds slaps a CBS Newspath producer on the face for not seeing the 1974 version of “The Longest Yard” in which Reynolds had a role.

What a fucking prick. And why is this producer guy such a pussy? I’d take a swing back at old Burt but his face would probably fall apart at the seams from all the platisc surgeries.

Nothing like an angry has-been Hollywood “star”

Heretismata Elada - Congrats to Greece

The Balkans Im happy to say outvoted old Europe and crowned one of my favorite Greek singer Elena Paparizou and her song My Number One top place with over 42 points lead. All of us practically gave Greece the most 12 point awards, than any other country.

Interestingly countries like Germany, UK and France were way down on the bottom.

Eurovision is the European version of American Idol that has taken place for 50 years. Each country holds auditions and votes for one favorite to be sent to the contest which is held in the country that was number one in the previous year.

The finals see all competing countries perform live on stage after which voting opens on the whole continent for just 10 minutes. Votes are tabulated and votes are distributed from 1 to 10 points with 12 points going to the performer each country voted the most for. The performer with the most votes wins.

7’s web page goes CSS, sells ads

Long time coming, but WSVN.com has gone over to the CSS side and scrapped their use of tables. CSS for the unenglightened is short for Cascading Style Sheets which is something used to hold the design of a web page. With it should 7 decide to switch site designs they can do it by replacing their .css file

I wish they’d updated the design too, but maybe they will do that later.

Also they’ve added contextual advertising, and you can buy ads to be displayed on their site via AdSonar.

UPN33’s 10pm slogan

Watching the 70’s Show on UPN33, their 10pm teaser ended with “Get it first, get it fast on UPN33 news at 10″. 7’s slogan used to be, and sorta still is - Get it first, get it fast (sometimes get it all) on 7News, first at 10

Jus’ noticing … :)

WPLG now in West Palm?

I was watching “Charmed” on TNT a while ago and a promo for WPLG ran in which they touted their coverage showing Palm Beach, Broward, Miami as their “coverage”.

It was a nice promo but I couldn’t record it because Im working on the laptop but hopefully they run it on 10 as well.

Mike Kirsch back

Insider says Mike Kirsch is coming back to WFOR and starts work in June. No info yet on why he came back

CNN wakes up

Few years too late CNN wakes up and realises they should drop their registration to watch video on CNN.com, and instead give it away for free with ads.

Duh.

This was CNN’s worst move. Making people pay $4.95 to watch news online. Not only that but using the crappies media player that anyone has devised in the face of planet - Real Player. Horrible.

Hopefully now they’ll do away with it completely and either adopt Windows Media Player which would be the lesser of two evils compared with Real Player, or they will go MPEG-4 H.264/AVC using Quicktime as this codec is just simply too amasing and great.
