Former WFOR Reporter Goes To The Web

Former WFOR anchor and reporter Art Barron is now headed to the web.

Barron was one of the casualties during WFOR’s layoffs in September 2007. In January 2008 he landed an anchoring job at KSTP, the ABC affiliate in Minneapolis-St. Paul. But now management there is giving him a new job description – web producer for KSTP’s upcoming neighborhood websites.

Hubbard Broadcasting is launching 80 to 90 hyper-local sites in the Minneapolis-St. Paul area covering specific neighborhoods and Art Barron will be working on those.

KOMO, the ABC affiliate in Seattle, launched dozens of neighborhood sites last year that have had great success both financially and in terms of attracting visitors.  I used to visit some of them quite a bit while we lived in the Seattle area and found them quite informative.

She Fell… And they won’t help her get up!

KTRK’s very own Melanie Lawson was anchoring a newscast when what she least thought would happen, happened. As she appeared to be reaching over the anchor desk to pinch the meterologist on St. Patrick’s Day for not wearing green, she seemed to of slipped off her chair, and fell! Mind you, none of the other anchors bothered to get up and help her up, but just stare at her. As bad as this sounds,  it’s actually kinda’ funny! Be the judge yourself! Funny? or Mean?

KTRK is an ABC affiliate in Houston, Texas, which is the same affiliate former WSVNer Sharron Melton works at as a co-anchor on the AM newscast.

Hello, Kelley Mitchell

Kelley Mitchell is back and reporting Colombia related news from South Florida for RCN News In English.

Sometimes she’s out and about (with I presume Jim Robinson? as photog) and other times she wings it by webcam from home! Power of the internets everybody. Who needs big towers anyway?

Nice to see her in action again and doing well

Andrea Brody: Reporter, Chicken Catcher

Andrea Brody reporting on loud chickens ends up giving Animan Control a hand by catching one of them, which by the sound of it was not amused with her. What do you think that chicken was yelling at Brody?

Can you add chicken chasing to your resume?

Nathalie Pozo Joins the NBC6 Team

Today was the first day Nathalie Pozo began her endeavor aboard the WTVJ sinking ship. Pozo comes to us from WPBF, a West Palm Beach ABC affiliate. Pozo will be on Today in South Florida doing traffic reports, and anchoring the 11 AM “South Florida Today” show. In addition to having someone do the traffic on camera again, there is some tremendous eye candy, also. Pozo was Ms. Cuban American back in 2002. Best of luck, Nathalie! All of us at SFLTV wish you the best!
