Legendary South Florida radio host Neil Rogers passed away today at 9:45am after fighting heart problems this year. Affectionately called by some as Uncle Neil, Rogers hosted “The Neil Rogers Show” since 1976 starting at WKAT and then later on at 560 WQAM until he retired in 2009. His show was consistently the top rated radio show in the Miami-Fort Lauderdale market since 1976. He is also the first South Florida radio personality to earn over $1 million a year.

Troughout his shows Rogers was known to pick on CNN host Larry King a lot. As well as Ann Bishop, the late WPLG anchor, and WSVN’s Rick Sanchez.

The Sun Sentinel has a really nice story on Neil Rogers by Tom Jicha, with video, you can see here
