Julie Durda Can Now Be Your Wake Up Call

WPLG Local 10 News

WPLG released the ‘Max Tracker’ app last week and with it out cameScreenshot_2013-06-10-17-08-45 another one called Wake Up With Local 10. I guess you could call it an enhanced alarm clock app.

Wake Up With Local 10 gives users easy access to the time, weather, traffic and a live stream of WPLG all from its home page. Tap on the weather link, and a 7-day temperature outlook pops from the left side. The bottom half is dedicated to news headlines in several categories accessible from a tabbed interface that can be scrolled sideways. You can add or remove news sections by tapping on the ‘Add News Section’ at the bottom

Or rather the fact you can set the alarm to play a pre-recorded wake up greeting from any one of the WPLG morning news anchors – Jason Martinez, Jen Herrera, Constance Jones or Julie Durda. Or what I think is WPLG’s morning new theme.

The app is pretty simple and lightweight but the WPLG logo, the clock and the ‘My Alarms’ dominate the top half of the interface while the other links are too small. On my 4.5″ device I already mistakenly tapped the Live Radar link instead of Watch Live, several times. Especially when using my phone with one hand. Same with ‘Timesaver Traffic’, it’s very easy to accidentally tap on the weather image above it.

You can download Wake Up With Local 10 from the Apple and Android app stores.

  1. Admin, that’s definitely the new morning theme. They updated their music package a few days ago. Videos are on my YouTube channel.
