Some people say there is no such thing as too much branding and WSVN’s bosses have to be part of that group because the amount of branding they do during the average newscast is just ungodly. The newsplex is kind of obvious but you don’t have to pay close attention to realise they love to drill it in your gray matter that you’re watching 7, and especially at night, ‘The Night Team’.
So, how many times do you think they said ‘Night Team’ in a WSVN 10pm newscast? Or, how many times is the WSVN logo staring back at you, often in multiples, in a newscast? The short answer is a lot! But if you want to get more precise, our friend TMBtD edited a whole hour of 7News at 10pm and made a heroic attempt to count how many times circle 7 popped on-screen.
I tried counting along but got exhausted in the first minute of the video. Check it out after the jump
KTRK’s very own Melanie Lawson was anchoring a newscast when what she least thought would happen, happened. As she appeared to be reaching over the anchor desk to pinch the meterologist on St. Patrick’s Day for not wearing green, she seemed to of slipped off her chair, and fell! Mind you, none of the other anchors bothered to get up and help her up, but just stare at her. As bad as this sounds, it’s actually kinda’ funny! Be the judge yourself! Funny? or Mean?
KTRK is an ABC affiliate in Houston, Texas, which is the same affiliate former WSVNer Sharron Melton works at as a co-anchor on the AM newscast.
Chief Meteorologist Pete Bouchard of WSVN’s sister station, WHDH, is getting a lot of unwanted attention the past few days around YouTube, because of an off-color joke he made. While presenting the weather, Bouchard made a joke that came off as comparing his penis size in relation to the 9 inches of snow that fell. View the video after the jump.
Maggie Rodriquez has been getting lots of attention since she left WFOR here in Miami, for her new job on ‘The Early Show’ in New York. Not only was she promoted within the first few months that she was with CBS, but she has also been substituting for Katie Couric on the ‘CBS Evening News.’
A few months ago, we told you about the new YouTube series “Auto-Tune the News,” which put a new hip-hop spin on all forms of network news. Well now, it’s Maggie Rodriquez’s turn to get put to song. Video after the jump.
